Team Sarcoma by Bacchetta – Day 3

During the bike path start.. - Allan Duhm Photo

After the Sedona climbs yesterday the racers headed across more moderate terrain in pursuit of Monument Valley.  A rather consistent partial tailwind assisted.  The night stars were no less than spectacular as Alex, Steve, Chris and Dana agitated the night.

Just after sunset as we awaited the riders we watched wild horses wander through a Navajo neighborhood and off into the hills.  Shookie and I caught a hotel room in Kayenta after passing the other B team.  That allowed Shook to see Monument Valley in daylight.  It was majestic and we got our mandatory Forrest Gump pics taken we’ve caught up to the mother ship which we can tell by radio is carrying Alex and Steve on a sleep shift.

We’ve also just left Utah for the friendly vistas of Colorado.  Our next landmark will be Battle Rock as the riders make their way to Cortez, CO.
